First aid is the provision of initial care to the victims of an accident or illness before expert medical help is obtained to treat the patients fully and in accordance with standard procedures of treatment. This is usually administered by individuals who have undergone training in providing first aid as well as any paramedical personnel who are present on the scene of the accident. The provision of initial aid and relief can go a long way in the recovery of the patient as the initial hour or so is regarded as the "golden hour" when timely access to the patient with some rudimentary form of treatment is crucial as well. In most of the cases, before the victim is rushed to a hospital or on the way to the hospital, some kind of treatment can be done depending on the severity of the injuries and the subsequent treatment that has to be done.
There are different kinds of Life Saving First Aid tips that you can use. For instance, there is the CPR method that is the first line of first aid for those suffering from cardiac problems or has suffocated due to the foreign matter in their bodies. As noted above, there are different levels of first aid and the CPR is the first level. There can be advanced first aid techniques that are administered depending on the kind of injury and the level of training of the person giving the first aid to the patient. Further, first aid should aim for two things. The first is preserving life and the second is promoting recovery. In many cases, the former takes precedence over the latter and the concern of most first aid workers is to preserve life.
There are provisions for first aid kits on public transport and with paramedics as well as law enforcement officers. These are given primarily to administer first aid to the accident victims before they can be taken to be treated in a hospital. There are other methods of first aid that do not need a specialized kit and they can be administered by using common sense. For instance, if a person suffers a fracture, it is better to tie up the affected joint or bone in a sling, so that he or she need not move the bone or the joint further than necessary and prevent dislocating it even more. This is the basic thing that is taught to all the students in many schools. And when there is a burn victim, the prevailing wisdom is that he or she needs to be splashed with cold water around the burn area so that the heat does not seep into the interior skin area.
Knowing first aid can help save lives and it is recommended for many people to know the rudiments of giving first aid, so that they can be useful in accident and illness cases where medical help may be a bit away and that the focus on saving life takes priority.
