Hummingbird Nectar Recipe

Hummingbirds being found in the wild of Caribbean and America eat variety of things. But, they are most attracted to nectar just like bees. They are also considered as one of the smallest bird in the world at 2 inches. Did you know that they have the fastest metabolism among flying creatures? To be able to maintain this type of metabolic rate, they need to eat double their weight each day. They are considered as one of the busiest flying creatures because they visit hundreds of new blooms each day to sustain the amount of nectar they need to feed themselves.

Although, they also prey on different insects, they love the sweetness of nectar on different plants and flowers. They contribute to the balance of nature by simply stimulating the sucrose content of nectar producing plants and flowers. This practices also helps the bird develops a healthy life through the right amount of energy and calories they can get from different flowers and plants.

Some people really love to take a closer look at hummingbirds and watch them eat and feed on different plants and flowers. They’d love to take a shot on how they eat. If you are among those who are very much interested in birds most especially hummingbirds. Why don’t you grab the idea of making your own nectar recipe which you can put on your garden? This way, you can attract hummingbirds to draw closer to you. Here are some of the important classic recipes you can make:

1. Combine sugar and water on a pan.

2. Bring to a simmer until the sugar is totally liquefied.

3. Cool first before putting it in a colorful feeder.

You shouldn’t use any type of dye or artificial coloring, although, hummingbirds are attracted to striking colors such as red. They don’t necessitate synthetic savor. It will harm their health. You can use colorful flowers instead of using artificial coloring. This way, you are making them happy without risking their lives. You need to remember that hummers are essential to the balance of nature, don’t harm them since they are playing a major role in the ecology system. Some gardeners and home owners decorate their yard well to be able to attract hummers. They will put so many colored plants and flowers to attract them. They also invented modernize homemade nectar especially for hammers only:

1. If you are using tap water, you should ensure boiling it first before putting on the sugar. This eliminates the germs and bacteria from the water.

2. Do not use, honey, brown sugar, molasses and other artificial sweeteners to replace the sugar content of the feeder. They can be too heavy which the hummers cannot digest.

3. You don’t need to buy feeders because most of them come with artificial flavoring that are not needed by the hummers.

4. You can keep unused nectars for the following day usage.

5. Clean the feeder frequently to avoid contamination. This will keep them safe from getting sick.
