Home Remedies for Heartburn

Heartburn is a painful burning sensation in the esophagus; it is usually because of gastric acid. It affects the chest, neck and throat since the acid flows back from the stomach. It is also associated by doctors to cause cough and asthma. Most of the time, it is associated with acid reflux since the patient may experience the same effect.

You cannot associate them with heart problems because it has nothing to do with the heart itself. Although the heartburn literally is associated with the same burning sensation that one may experience. If you are suffering from heartburn, you may try the following home remedies to help you ease the pain you are experiencing:

1. Garlic – this herb is one of the most versatile herbs existing today. It is just a clove, but your heartburn will be relieved as fast as it came. Avoiding chocolates, soda, wine and citrus will also help you be relieved from heartburn.

2. Papaya – it aids digestion and prevents heartburn from happening to you. It contains powerful enzymes that aids in digestion. Eating it fresh is the best remedy.

3. Bananas – they have natural antacid that coats the stomach to prevent heartburn from happening.

4. Apple cider vinegar – it helps neutralizes the acid in the stomach.

5. Almonds – it contains high good oil content that neutralizes the acidity level in the stomach.

6. Aloe Vera juice – soothes the uneasy feeling you are suffering in the esophagus.

7. Slippery elm – it helps relieves sore throat and unwanted acid feeling inside the mouth.

8. Marshmallow – it coats and soothes the lining of the esophagus so you will be relieved from painful sore.

9. Eating antioxidant rich foods can also be helpful.

Don’t make your situation worse than what it should be like. You should start avoiding the following before you suffer in pain for the rest of your life:

1. Drink coffee moderately – caffeine rich foods may irritate the inflamed stomach and esophagus, so you need to take it easy on caffeine rich foods.

2. Keep away from sugary products at all times.

3. Clear the air you breathe – avoid smoking.

4. Avoid carbonated drinks.

5. Avoid fast food foods that are rich in oil and msg.

6. Check your waistline. Too much fat may cause acidity.

7. Avoid sedatives or any antidepressant drug, they can aggravate heartburn.

8. Avoid eating few hours before sleeping.

9. Live a strain free existence. It will help you to be relieved from pain.

10. Avoid lifting and bending on your tummy, this will cause trauma.

11. Avoid allergy giving foods such as fish sauce and others.

Although antacids may help you be relieved from pain, there are lots of home remedies that can help you. By avoiding eating big meals through the day, you will also find relief. You should eat small meals instead of big ones. They can provide you with adequate time to digest the foods easily. You should also avoid tight clothes as they can contribute to heartburn.
