Guidance on Natural Cat Food
By Jason Ladock | Pet Nutrition | Unrated

The market is flooded with food products for cats and dogs as these animals are present in almost every known family out there. This of course creates a huge market for food products for these lovely household pets.

Most veterinarians and nutritional experts believe that natural raw cat food works best for the cat’s health. Providing your cat with natural food can save them from lots of health ailments. Most cats commonly experience bowel related diseases which can be eliminated to a great extent with natural diet. Natural diets do not contain any kind of preservatives, chemical components or food stabilizers which are hugely responsible for digestive problems amongst cats.

If one feeds their pet continuously with substandard commercial food for a long period of time, then it can cause serious health issues and heavy expenses towards the veterinary fees. Also, one is not sure about the ingredients present in processed food items. Cats feeding on natural food survive longer than those that rely on commercial food items.

Research indicates that cats which rely on natural diets lead an active and healthier lifestyle in comparison to other cats which ply less on natural food. Let’s have a look at some of the natural cat food options.

Raw Food Diets

Raw food diets can meet the nutritional value required by your cat. However, one needs to make sure that all meats are properly cooked or frozen before use.

Tuna

Tuna is a popular cat food. They are rich in vitamins and minerals responsible for the active and healthy lifestyle of your pet. Although it does not contain all the nutritional value required by the cats, it’s still a great food to serve to your cats from time to time.

While deciding on your homemade recipe, one needs to ensure that the food contains ingredients that meet the nutritional value required by the cat. For instance, cats require food items that are very rich in protein contents. Remember proteins can be obtained for plants as well as animal sources. However, protein obtained from plants lack certain amino acids essentially required by the cats, which is why cats would need protein from animal sources and not plant sources. Also, your cat might be allergic to certain food items. If you notice repeated unusual behavior after feeding the cat with a particular food, then you should know that it’s time to make changes in the diet.

Since cats shy away from water, one can prepare a food item which contains lots of water in it. In this manner, one can ensure that their pet is consuming adequate water. Inadequate water intake can lead to dehydration and other unwanted health problems.

Cats are undoubtedly a great companion for you and your family members which is a prime reason why they have a place in our house and heart. It’s our responsibility to provide them with rich, natural and healthy food items so that we can enjoy their company, and most importantly they stay heal and hearty for long.
