By Jonathan Pitts | Skin Care | Unrated

Our feet are the most over-worked parts of the human body. They are used for walking, running and jumping. They carry most of the weight of the body especially when standing for long periods of time. A lot of our daily activities put such strain and some abuse on the feet. Thus, we need to take care of our feet by giving them proper care and attention just like we do with our hands and face.

One of the best ways to take care of the feet is by pampering them. We can do these by keeping them clean and fresh most of the time. The toes should be properly trimmed. We need to apply moisturizer and lotions to our feet to keep the skin healthy. We need to let them rest if they are sore and tired. We need to prevent feet problems such as calluses, corns, blisters and warts. We need to protect the feet by being careful with the shoes we wear. We must just love our feet as much as we love the other parts of our body.

Pampering our feet one step further is by giving them natural foot scrubs. This is really a soothing way to pamper the feet; providing relief from aches and other soreness that our feet may have. Natural foot scrubs are healthy to the feet as these keep the feet clean, these prevent feet odors and bacteria and keep the skin of the feet free from dryness.

These natural foot scrubs are mostly homemade. You can use organic herbs, fruits and essential oils in your foot scrubs. Here are some easy to do natural foot scrubs:

Grapefruit foot scrub – make a mixture of 1 tbsp each of coarse sugar, olive oil and grapefruit rind. Mix well, and then add 10 drops of grapefruit essential oils. Let this rest for about 12 hours. Rub the mixture on your feet most especially around the toes and heels. Rinse well. Use the mixture within 3 days. For better exfoliating effect, add more sugar to the mixture.

Peppermints essential oils foot scrub – this is effective in getting rid of feet odors boil about 8 cups of water in a pot. Remove from heat then add fresh peppermint and let steep for about 15 minutes. Transfer the boiled peppermint into a foot basin. Soak feet for about 10 minutes. Add some marbles; the feet can use these as foot rollers to massage and stretch toes while soaked.

Olive oil foot scrubs – this is good to get rid of dead skin cells, keep skin moisturized. Mix 2 tbsp each of olive oil and coarse salt to make a scrub. Soak feet in warm water for about 5 minutes. Then massage the olive oil mixture on the feet, concentrating on the dry and rough areas of the feet. Make circular motions all over the feet areas. Let the scrub stay on feet for about 5 minutes. Then rinse with warm water.

By using these foot scrubs, you would make your feet healthy, clean and always fresh. Now, that is one way to keep your feet truly happy and yourself as well.
