Heartburn during pregnancy can be a usual situation. This happens because of excessive production of hormones happens during pregnancy. Excessive hormonal production and enlargement of the baby can cause more pressure in the stomach and builds up stomach acid later on.
Although heartburn during pregnancy is not a guarantee that every woman may experience it, you will be prone to it once you get pregnant. But, this can be normal among pregnant women, and there’s something you can do to minimize the effect, here’s the following:
• Don’t eat foods that are known to trigger heartburns such as chocolates, citrus, tomato based products, mustard, vinegar and other fatty foods. There are still lots of foods you can eat which will not cause you heartburn.
• Avoiding colas and caffeine rich drinks will help you a lot.
• Since you are pregnant you shouldn’t take much alcoholic drinks, it will not just trigger the cause of acid reflux, and it will not also be good for your baby.
• Don’t eat big meals. Eating small meals instead of few big meals are better for you.
• Chew the food watchfully and systematically.
• Do not go to bed yet until you’ve digested what you’ve eaten.
• Drink plenty of water for your hydration.
• Sleep with your shoulders and pillows to elevate your head; this will help you to confine the acid from where it should be and not through your stomach.
• Always observe wearing comfortable clothes. Avoid wearing tightened clothes through your stomach area because they will just make you irritated.
• When you need to bend, do it on your knees and not on your waist.
• Watch your diet. Too much weight gain will not be good for you and for your baby.
• Don’t smoke. Even if you are not pregnant, this will not do you any good.
• Don’t take non-prescription drugs right away. You should always consult your doctor first before taking in any kind of drug.
Pregnancy is such a very crucial yet special time between couples. This is the best time of their life where they expect someone to come along to complete their family. Having a baby is not a simple task. Carrying him/her during the 9 months of his life is truly memorable yet difficult.
When you want your baby to be as healthy as possible, you should always consult your doctor whenever you feel something unusual. It’s best to conform with your doctor whenever you feel something inappropriate. The life of your baby lies in your hands.
How you take care of yourself is the same way you take care of him while he’s still with you. Gastrointestinal discomforts can be avoided if you will eat right and follow your doctor’s advice. Give your baby a chance to live a happy and healthy life by taking care of yourself. The best thing you can give him is the gift of life itself.
