Many people are just familiar with anti-inflammatory medications. You should not only rely on medications, they should also consider their diet to reduce the risk of inflammation that might lead to some chronic diseases. This anti-inflammatory drug is called the NSAID or Non Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs. This common medical treatment is widely used and recommended by most doctors as an initial form of therapy for inflammation. This kind of drugs has an adverse effect in the long run. Studies have shown that long term use of this drug can lead to kidney diseases, ulcers, and irritation of the stomach.

Just by simply avoiding foods that increases inflammation can be a big help to ease your discomfort and pain. Eating a lot of junk foods, sugar, and high fat meals will only increase inflammation in your body. This effect is partly due to unhealthful fats used in preparing these kinds of foods. These foods are all rich in Trans fat and saturated fatty acid which is actually bad for our health. Processed foods such as hotdogs, sausages, and meats contain certain kind of chemical called nitrites that can cause increase in inflammation and chronic diseases. Nitrites are also known as a carcinogenic compound. These carcinogens are the number one cause of having cancers especially in the gastrointestinal part.

Meats and other dairy products are high in saturated acid. Although this foods are important for us as source of vitamins and minerals, our body do not need it in excess. These kinds of foods are also rich in fatty acid called arachidonic acid. While this acid is known to be essential for your health, too much intake of arachidonic acid in the diet can make your inflammation even worse than ever. You should always choose low fat milk and other low fat products to avoid worsening of inflammation.

Diets which are high in sugar have also been connected with inflammation. Sugar does not only trigger inflammation but also in some other cases like obesity and a lot of chronic disease such as diabetes. Total elimination of foods high in sugar content like sodas, pastries, ice creams, and sweetened cereal in the diet can lower your inflammation risk.

Other possible causes of inflammation are foods that come from the nightshade family of plants such as potatoes, eggplant, and tomatoes. This fruits and vegetables are very essential part of the diet because of its nutrient and vitamin content. Moderation of this food in the diet is recommended to individuals with inflammation. This family of plants contains alkaloid called solanine that can trigger more pain for some people. While there is no scientific basis and study regarding this nightshade family, many patients believe that they get relief by avoiding this certain kind of food.

Just a small serving or a little amount of these foods can just help you with inflammation. Always remember that anything in excess are definitely bad for your health. A well balanced meal everyday and a plenty of routine exercise can help you defend yourself from a lot of infections.
