Amino Acid and Protein Metabolism
By Jason Ladock | Metabolism | Unrated

The amino acids in the human body are composed of one or more hydrogen atoms. They represent the breakdown of the food within the body. All proteins have amino acid components. The metabolism of protein is associated with the metabolism of amino acids within the body. There are constant changes in the amino acids when it goes through the tissues up to the blood. It plays an important role in the lives of humans. Here are some of the known functions of amino acids:

1. It is important in building up cells with live organisms.

2. Amino acids do the repair when a tissue or cell is worn during metabolism.

3. It is responsible in storing proteins.

4. Although some amino acids cannot be synthesized by the body, storing them is very important because they are essential for growth and development of life.

5. Amino acids helps the following:

a. Synthesis of bile

b. Plasma proteins

c. Hemoglobin

d. Hormones

e. Enzymes

f. Milk in lactating mothers

g. Glutathione production

h. Melanin formation

i. Antibodies

The above mentioned can be overwhelming, when this happened, it can developed into the following functions of breaking down:

• It supplies energy through the body.

• Responsible in dynamic action of tissue metabolism.

• Deamination.

The non-nitrogenous residues are utilized into carbohydrates, while others are being secreted by the body in form of waste materials. Since protein is composed of 20 amino acids, they are both essential in building and maintaining life form. They are both important in repairing and building up tissues that are a part of human’s daily living.

Protein and amino acids can be found in different kind of foods. Meat, poultry and fish contains all the 20 amino acids needed to build a strong protein formation. By eating these foods, your body will be able to fully repair damaged cells. If you don’t regularly eat protein rich foods, your body will get part of your stored protein from your muscles and use it to utilize repair of damaged cells and tissues. Have you imagined what will happen to your body when it is lack of adequate supplies of protein nutrients it needs?

By simply eating 1 pound of protein every meal, you will achieve the amount needed by your body to sustain its daily activities. It will also allow your metabolism to stay high and prevents the breakdown of muscles while your tissues and cells are continuously being repaired when damaged. The human body is designed to repair on its own, but without adequate nutrients you won’t be able to sustain the required nourishments your body needs to function well.

There are other protein rich foods you can have aside from meat, fish, dairy products, poultry and milk. There is also cottage cheese that’s rich in protein and low in fat. It’s best to eat it at night time because it’s low in fat and saturated salt. It can supply your body the nutrients it needs to repair although the night.
