The foundation is a kind of makeup that can make the face to have a flawless look. It can hide some imperfections on the skin and helps the skin to have a healthy natural look. If you are looking for the perfect foundation shade, there are some important things to remember to get the results you want on your look.
• Always remember your kind of skin tone. Go to the beauty store with no makeup on so you can try different shades to match your complexion. Look for the foundation that is closest to your natural color as much as possible. Compare shades as you try them on your face. For dry skin, use liquid or cream foundation for a smoother look. For oily skin, powder foundation is recommended to keep the shine or oil on your face under control. If you have normal skin, you have a choice of either of the two, whichever suits you best.
• Apply enough trial foundation on your jaw line; this is to closely match it with your neck to have a combined well-toned look. Have a good mirror with a close-up side to see how the foundation looks on you.
• Try to go near a well lighted area to check how you look under the lights. Then go to an area where natural light is to make comparisons. If the foundation does not look different in any of these conditions, then it is a good one because it has blended well with your skin.
• It is important to match the foundation with the color of your neck; it should be the same as much as possible. You can also make use of stripe test to determine the right shade for you. For bronze skin, the strip test would be from the cheek to the jaw line. For the ivory tone, it would be from the jaw line to the neck.
Try to decide if you want a full coverage or just the finish for your makeup. Full coverage may range from light to heavy foundation on the face. The finish may just be some sheer on the face.
If you are ready to put foundation on your face, remember to moisturize your face first as this would help the foundation to have a good base to start on. Put your foundation after about 10 minutes after you moisturized. Get a cosmetic sponge and dip in some water; remember to squeeze out excess liquid. Place small dots of foundation on your forehead, cheeks, chin, nose and jaw line and blend well with the cosmetic sponge. Blend well especially along the jaw line, nose and mouth until the foundation actually disappears and is hardly noticeable. Then, apply a very light brush of translucent powder to make it last a little longer.
Keep in mind that the foundation helps your face to get that well polished look making you look pretty and attractive. That is its sole purpose, no more, no less.
