By Mark Perry | Pets Health | Unrated

Your cat may suffer from certain kinds of skin diseases if not properly cared. This rare skin disease is called as EGC or Eosimophilic Granuloma Complex. It is not just a single disease but multiple diseases with variety of lesions that may attack your cats. This skin disease usually has three forms, other cats may have just one form but others may suffer from all three forms.

If your pet cat is infected by these three forms of skin disease, it may be very painful and dangerous for your cat. The cause of this certain kind of skin disease for cats is not clearly stated until now. Most veterinarians just believe that it is a type of skin sensitivity to some allergens. It may be an airborne allergen, a food allergy, or a flea infection.

Other medical community believes that it is caused by a bacterium that attack you cat as they respond to a certain antibiotics. The attack of this allergy varies from peak season, while other cats are affected any time of the year, making it more difficult to predict.

The first type of allergy is known as the rodent ulcer, it is characterized by a red lesion in the skin. It is commonly found in the cat’s upper lip part. It can also be seen in the middle of the lip which is called the philtrum. It is very rare to happen that the damage area on the both sides of the lip. Typically, it is only on one side of the lip or within the mouth. These lesions may aggravate if the cat will continually lick any foreign body. All cats have a natural tendency of licking anything. This natural way of cat may worsen the situation.

The next type of lesion is the eosinophilic plaque; these are characterized by red ulcerated sores. This type of lesion is very itchy and up to the point that some cats hurt themselves in order to relief from itching. Unlike the first one that can only be found on the lip part, this lesion is found around the body. These particular skin diseases believed that comes from hypersensitivity to some fleas and mosquitoes.

The final type of lesion is the Eosinophilic Granuloma. These kinds of lesions are usually pinkish and are not that itchy for your cat. Eosinophilic Granuloma affect cats in all ages and breed, but adolescent kittens are the most affected ones. This form of lesion can affect the face, footpads, legs, and the palate of the cat. If the part of the chin is affected by the lesion, the face usually becomes swollen and the appearance of your cat may change drastically.

Discoloration may be seen in your cats tongue or palate. Sometimes, the color may change to white if it is located in the tongue and palate area. It is red in color if they are found anywhere else in the body. This form of lesion is not painful or even itchy. However, if the lesion is the throat area, it may be very difficult for your cat to swallow any kind of food.
