How to Treat Dog Diarrhea

Diarrhea is a serious ailment when not treated right away. It causes dehydration if not given the right attention. Dehydration is the situation where massive loss of fluid in the body is taking place. Humans and animals can both suffer from this ailment. Even dogs may suffer from diarrhea when not properly feed with the right kind of food intended for them.

Dog diarrhea is a process where your dog may suffer from having soft stool. Most often than not, dogs that suffer in diarrhea is experiencing stress, sudden change of food, medication side effects, given dirty foods or it can also be a result of a more serious disease. You can bring your dog to a veterinarian to assess properly the cause of the problem. You can also take note of the following steps as you deal with your dog’s situation:

1. You should assess your dog’s condition. By determining the factors that causes him to suffer, you will be able to identify the solution. There are lots of reasons why your dog suffer. Someone in your family might have given a spoil food or dirty one. The food given few days back might have been contaminated. Worms can also trigger diarrhea. Being outside of the house and through other elements in the environment, your dog can be attacked by worms and other microscopic parasites.

Through deworming, you will be able to ease the problem you are experiencing with your dog. Food poisoning can be hazardous, it can also cause diarrhea. Next time you see your dog moving soft bowel, you should be alarmed and take him to a nearby veterinary clinic to assess his case. Doctor’s will adjust your dog’s diet you that you’re giving to your pet. He will surely ask you for a laboratory test to determine the cause why your dog suffers from diarrhea.

2. If you are feeding your dog with a homemade food, you should feed your dog with smaller meals. You should feed him rice and a table spoon of cottage cheese. You can include a little meat if your dog resists eating. You can also use oatmeal, yogurt and other low fat meats like turkey and beef.

3. If your dog is not suffering from any serious ailments, you can just continue with a bland diet until the soft stool subsides.

4. You can bring back your dog’s normal diet after a few days of being well. Most of the time, veterinarians will suggest you to let your dog to eat a balance diet. It means low fat and rich in vegetables. This way, you will be able to make him recover from the dog diarrhea he suffered.

Caring for your pet dog doesn’t stop after you feed him. It’s a continuous process you need to shoulder until he’s alive. When something happened, make sure that you’ll take him to a veterinarian to give him the right medication he needs. You should also seek for the best service for him since he’s providing you with lots of love and loyalty.
