How Much Water Should You Drink?

People tend to ignore the benefits of drinking water. Many studies have proven the tremendous benefits of drinking clean water daily. Certain individuals may vary according to their needs of water in the body. Some factors like health and lifestyle may affect the recommendation of water intake each day. Your location also plays a big part in determining your water intake. There is no formula created to determine the exact water intake that will fit for everyone. Proper knowledge can be very helpful to determine how much water your body needs each day.

Did you know that water is considered to be the major chemical component to make up the average percentage of your body weight? The body is actually made up of 60% water. This comprises the total 100% of your total body weight. Every system inside your body totally depends on water for their normal function. The best example is when the excretory system flushes toxins out of the body. Water also carries nutrients in all parts of the body. It also gives ample amount of moisture environment in the ear, throat, and nose.

Loss of water in the body may lead to dehydration. This condition may occur when the body does not have enough water supplies to sustain its normal functions. A mild dehydration may lead you to tiredness and lack of energy to do daily activities.

The importance of water should be taken very seriously if you want to have a normal and active life. Every day, you lose water inside your body through urination, breathing, and perspiration. You have to replenish those lost water supply by drinking lots of fluid and foods that contains higher amount of water. There are several approaches to estimate the water needs of a healthy and normal individual. They are comprised of the following:

• A replacement approach has been formulated to estimate the average urine output of an individual per day. Your body loses about 1.5 liters of urine each day and the foods you eat usually contain 20% of your total body fluid. This means that if you consume 2 liters of water each day you will be able to replaced your lost fluid. This may be done along with your normal diet as well.

• Typically, it is recommended that 8 ounces of water should be taken by a normal individual each day. Another approach being conducted is the 8X8 rule. The rule is to drink 8 ounces of water a day together with a normal diet. Although this is not been supported by scientific evidences, a lot of people uses this method as a guide to their daily water intake.

• Dietary recommendations per individual are being promoted by the Institute of Medicine. They are advising the average men should consume 3 liters of water while women should drink 2.2 liter each day.

How Much Water Should You Drink?

You have to drink enough water even if you are not thirsty to be able to produce at least 1.5 liters fluid to add up in your body’s water content. If your urine output is slightly yellowish in color, you are probably taking an adequate amount of water.
