Houseplants provides additional enhancement to your home. They are not just for decoration purposes; they can also provide fresh air. Houseplants also require low maintenance. All you need to do is to water and give them low light regularly and they will continuously provide you with adequate services you need. Although some says that there are lots of myths when it comes to giving houseplants enough requirements they need. You can easily tell if a plant is in anguish or not, through the following information, you can easily know how to determine:
1. Water – fluoride and salt in water is the most common cause of dried leaves in plants. The chemicals being used by water companies to treat human’s drinking water. This may be beneficial to humans but it is hazardous to other living organisms such as plants and animals.
2. Soluble salts – salts from the water may be non toxic as it may seems, but when the salt in water evaporates, the solution will remain in the water and it will build up. It will soon result in dry leaves. According to study, a plant that has high amount of salt water in the soil easily develops dry leaves than other plants.
3. Air pollution – the quality of air provides a bigger chance of getting brown and dried leaves. The seasons may contribute to dry leaves especially during warm air.
4. Heat – houseplants when exposed to too much sun exposure will contribute to a dry leaf. You need to check your window plants from time to time to see if it’s healthy or not.
5. Fungi – it is not directly the cause of dried leaf but it can cause spots on leaves. Fungi can be developed from houseplants with standing water. You need to make sure that water will flow off easily and will not be stagnant in any part of the plant container.
Taking care of your houseplant is very important. You need to ensure that they have the following so that they will grow perfectly:
• Sunlight – plants that are in dark area will not grow perfectly.
• Temperature – plants should have adequate temperature to grow perfectly.
• Humidity – humid environment can cause plants to lose water level. This can be hazardous to them and will cause them to have dry leaves.
• Air – clean air is important to plants. An environment with polluted air will most likely to affect the growth of the plant.
• Water – plants need water to extract oxygen from the soil. It allows them to grow perfectly.
• Fertilizer – it is an essential element for plants to grow faster. If you think your plants have all the enough nutrients to sustain their growth, fertilizers won’t be necessary anymore.
Plants need human’s love and attention. You shouldn’t expect your plants to grow on their own since they don’t have the capacity to do that. You should treat them like you do with your house pets, this way they will give you back the result you are expecting of them.
