There are a number of people who would have been through a bone fracture at some point of their life. These can be either hairline fractures or a major break fracture. Be any of it, it is still always a serious matter. Any bone fracture can lead to a major problem and often can affect the life of the person. Here are the top five bone fractures that affect people of all age groups.
1. Wrist fracture – In the entire human body, wrist is the point that is the most susceptible to fracture. Many people go through a wrist fracture doing the regular day-to-day activities of their life. The wrist fracture can occur by either a wrong movement, banging of the wrist against the car door or against a hard surface or during a fall. The wrist fracture can have an effect on the radius or the ulna, which are the two bones of the lower arm. If these go unaffected then there can be other bones in the hand that can get affected too.
2. Hip fracture – This is the most common fracture seen in elderly people. If you fall on your hip and it gets fractured, it can take months to recover. There are some people who might need to go in for a hip replacement therapy if the damage is bad. A hip fracture can result in the bad health of the person and affect the total aura of the body. It can also keep the person from walking and performing the everyday activities with ease. Complete bed rest is recommended for people who undergo a hip fracture.
3. Ankle fracture – Another prone area of the body that badly gets affected if fractured is the ankle. This joint is the main point that holds the pressure of the entire human body. Hence, it is important that you take proper care. Most of the times, people end up twisting their ankle in awkward situations and this can result in a fracture. Also, a bad accident or a fall can damage the ankle. The ankle fracture either hairline or a major fracture can result in a major disability and prevent the person from walking for a few months until it gets healed completely.
4. Arm fracture – Arms, hands are the most commonly used parts of the body. The everyday activities beginning from making tea, cooking, combing your hair, to holding things, driving, cleaning, writing and working, you put your hands in use. If you end up fracturing your hand, it would mean being totally dependent on someone for your regular chores. Even after the fracture has healed, the muscles would have degenerated and would need proper physiotherapy and exercises to rebuild their strength.
5. Leg fracture – This is again a very important part of our body on which we walk and reach our destination. With a fractured leg though you can use crutches to get around but you will be prevented from jumping, running or lifting weights. People with fractured leg can also find it difficult to shower or dress properly.
Most of the fractures are caused of carelessness or maybe during accidents. It is important that you take ample care when exercising or when running or doing your daily activities so that you can prevent any fracture from occurring.
