We all have different body types. There are body types that can wear any outfit that would look good on them. There are others who have to be extra careful in choosing the right outfit to suit their body type. If you like wearing skirts, it is worthy to know some good pointers to know the right kind of skirt to suit your body type.
If you have a straight body or one with almost no waist at all, you need to do is to create a curvy impression. Choose A-lined skirts or pleated skirts. Choose skirts with pockets to bring attention to the hips to create some curves in the body. You can also wear pencil skirts with belts to match. You can choose skirts with prints and patterns, geometric lines, paisleys and polka dots. Choose fabrics made of crisp cotton and linen. If you are tall, you can wear flowing skirts, layered skirts, ruffled skirts and floor length-skirts of any material. Always look for a skirt with a well-defined waist to make you look good.
For the pear shaped body type, meaning you look heavy on your lower part, you can wear A-line cut skirt with a defined waist. The A-line would hide your hips and bottom parts and would create a slimmer look with the focus on the waist. Dark colored skirts are preferred for a slimmer look. Always opt for a tailored cut skirt to minimize the heavy lower part of your body. Stay away from large prints and big pleats as well.
For the apple body type, meaning you have some roundness in the stomach area, you should avoid wearing with high waists or anything that bring attention to the waist. Wear knee length skirts and A-lined flared skirts, bias cut skirts, wrap and paneled skirts. Choose fabrics such as silk, jersey, wool or soft cotton flatter your body shape. Avoid wearing big prints and pleats; they only emphasize your stomach area. Try wearing dark-colored skirts like blue, black or deep purple for a slimmer look. Draw attention to your upper body instead by wearing a pretty top with pretty accessories to match.
For the curvy body type you can wear skirts with belts or those that define the waist. You can wear pencil skirts, A-lined skirts, full skirts, and the 50’s style skirts. Choose knee-length skirts made of light fabrics such as cotton and silk.
Always remember to consider your height as well. If you are of the petite size, your skirt should not go longer beyond the knee. This will make you look taller especially if you wear heels. Tall women may wear skirts slightly below the knee. Just remember that the knee length skirt is always the right option for most women. If you are over 35 years old, try avoiding wearing miniskirts. Wear proper skirts that are appropriate to your age as well.
