How to Tell If You Have Appendicitis

The appendix is a worm shaped organ that is attached at the cecum. It is like a shape of a pouch that marks the beginning of the large intestine. Many years ago appendix was considered as a useless organ in the body. Appendix is only known to cause trouble inside the body. In these later times, appendix is known to produce good germs and bacteria to aid bowels. Despite of its size, the appendix is known to cause severe trouble when inflamed.

Patients suffering from appendicitis are quickly admitted for surgical treatment. Appendix may burst if left untreated and is not taken away by surgery. If your appendix suddenly burst infections may spread throughout your digestive system causing a lot of trouble. This may lead in a condition called peritonitis. This condition is known as severe inflammation of the abdominal cavity wall. This may lead to patient’s death if left untreated. You have to learn to quickly identify the symptoms of appendicitis to avoid the spread of infection.

• Observe any terrible pain because this is one of the earliest symptoms of appendicitis. This pain is prominent around the middle part of your abdomen near the navel. The intensity of the pain gradually increases within 24 hours. The pain you are feeling may shift from the middle to the right lower side of the abdomen. From there, the pain may stay in the area smear the top right area of the pelvic bone. The pain may quickly aggravate even in a small twist or walk. The pain may also increase when you sneeze, cough and other activity that requires movements.

• Observe sudden loss of appetite and vomiting. When this symptom starts the pain in the abdomen also start to set in. Distention may also feel around the area develops because of abdominal swelling.

• Always monitor your bowel movement every day. You body may experience occurrence of diarrhea and constipation during painful attack of appendicitis. Pain on the rectal area can be one of the symptoms. You can also suffer from painful urination.

• Always check for other symptoms. You may also suffer from increase body temperature from 100 degrees F. Always consult your doctor for any pain felt on your abdominal area.

Your body can suffer from complications like sepsis if left untreated. This may happen if the bacteria suddenly get into the blood stream. These bacteria may go to the other organ and parts of the body. This is a very serious condition that may to death. Generally, appendicitis commonly occurs in people ages 10 to 30 years old. Test can be made by professional doctors to confirm if you do have appendicitis. Urine test accompanied by a white blood cell count are performed to confirm cases. Some other test like abdominal CT scan and ultrasound are done if the doctors are doubt. Taking good care of the body is the most effective way to prevent this kind of health alarming problems. Eating the right kind of diet for you is very helpful.
