Osteoporosis is still the problem of so many people these days. It has been alarming millions of women globally. There are preventive ways you can do to stop the agony of having it someday. Here are simple ways you can do to stop osteoporosis:

1. Change your diet – each person should have a balanced diet. With the right amount of calcium and vitamin D you will be able to lessen the risk of having osteoporosis someday. Eating foods rich in calcium such as milk, cheese, yogurts, soybeans, sardines, egg, spinach and tofu will save you from having the disease when you get older. Exposure to sun at a minimal time each day will also save you. If you cannot eat these foods, the right amount of supplement will do.

2. Habit changes – vices can be a factor that affects the occurrence of osteoporosis. Smoking and drinking contributes to the weakening of the bones since the body cannot absorb the right nutrients it needs to sustain the body’s needs.

3. Exercise – right amount of exercises and the longevity you can be a big factor. Long term exercise really promotes better bones. Doctor’s advice you to do a routine exercise everyday while you’re young. This needs to go on until you age so you will have a better chance of having stronger body and bones as you get older.

All women are prone to osteoporosis. That’s why you are advised to take precautionary measures to eliminate the risk of having it. These are some factors you should know:

• Be careful not to fall. Osteoporosis is a silent killer. It is a big risk for fracture.

• All post menopausal women are prone to osteoporosis.

• Women smoking and below 65 should have a yearly test to evaluate the disease right away.

• Men at age 70 should also be tested.

• Avoiding alcohol and cigarettes will lessen your risk.

• Non pharmacologic interventions are not the best treatment anymore.

Diet and lifestyle plays an important role in the lives of the people. In any kind of ailment, diet is the key for prevention and accumulation. If only people will go back to basics, there will never be anyone who will catch any kind of disease. Eating fruits and vegetables rich in calcium and other essential nutrients are still the most essential way to prevent osteoporosis from hunting you. There are lots of ways to prevent it, all you need to do is open your mind and be aware of the things around you.

Government and non-governmental organizations are now reaching people for them to know how the threat can be lessened. Please keep in mind that prevention is still better than cure. There’s nothing important than living right and be healthy especially now that time is really tough and the world is facing uncertainties. You need to be healthy because it’s so expensive to get sick these days. Eating right is still the number one defense for any type of ailments.
