Baby Travel Crib – Why Get One?
By Jonathan Pitts | Equipment | Unrated

Couples who enjoy travelling are often faced with the dilemma of whether it would be possible to go on trips frequently once a baby is born. This is because sleeping times of infants are variable. A travel crib cannot be termed as a solution to this dilemma but definitely is a compact utility which makes travelling with the baby easier.

Baby cribs are generally suitable until the infants are about three years old. You can use it as a bassinet until your baby reaches about 15 pounds of weight. They are comfortable and safe for the baby to sleep on during your travel. You need not worry about placing your baby on different surfaces that may be prone to infections. The crib would secure your baby and provide a cosy environment.

The baby travel crib should be portable, foldable, light weight and easy to set up. The materials used in this should be safe for the baby and should not be toxic. Baby travel cribs makes your trip comfortable and a little easier on the parent as you would not need to worry whether the place where you travel would have a comfortable sleeping couch suitable for your baby. In addition, your baby feels more secure in familiar bedding than needing to adapt to new surfaces every time. The parent need not worry about the cleanliness of the cots in a new accommodation. If you are visiting your relatives or friends, your baby’s sleeping requirements are taken care of by yourself and you don’t need to depend on them.

One should be able to set up a travel crib with just one hand as you may have to hold the baby with the other one. You may not be able to place the baby on the floor or away from you every time you set up the crib!

Ensure that the crib is always maintained clean. If washable fabrics are used, maintenance becomes easier. The fabric should be soft for the baby in order to avoid affecting the tender skin. You can reuse the same crib if you are planning to have more than one kid.

Portable cribs also come with meshed sides and serve as playpens or play yards for the baby. The height of the cribs is adjustable in some of the travel cribs. This is a highly useful feature, especially for infants who tend to be very active even when placed in the cribs. However, it is advisable not to leave the baby unsupervised in these kinds of cribs.

Some of the travel cribs come with a little tent at the top. This is suitable for couples who love to go on outdoor picnics in lush green areas as well as beaches in order to protect the infant from sunlight.

In addition to buying a travel crib, you can also purchase some crib sheets in case you may want to replace them during travel, especially if the infant wets the sheets. Inflatable sheets help you to save a lot of space when you are not using them.
