How to Increase Your Baby's IQ by Using Sign Language
By Jonathan Pitts | Babies | Unrated

Studies reveal that you can improve your baby’s IQ with the sign language. The relationship of the parent and the infant becomes enormously stronger by this method as the communication gap between the parent and the infant is narrowed and frustration between the two is thereby reduced.

You can start teaching sign language when your toddler reaches 8 months. While teaching sign language to your children, it is not necessary for them to reproduce the signs correctly at the first go as this is effectively a new learning process. Hence, you need to deal with them patiently.

The benefits of using sign language are many. Infants start speaking early when sign language is used and even before that, they use this as a means of conveying their thoughts.

Babies at the pre-verbal stage tend to express their feelings to their parents in a variety of ways. They become restless and fidgety if they find that the parents are unable to understand what they are trying to express. They especially require attention when something hurts or causes discomfort. They get upset and they start their outbursts in an undesirable manner if they feel hungry and they are not able to make their parents understand.

Hence, this alternate communication channel helps the baby to converse with the parents in a more easy way. When the baby cries, parents are able to interpret and grasp the needs of the baby in a better manner. This is the first step to develop precision motions and sounds before their actual speaking ability develops. In addition, parents are also able to understand their toddlers very well.

Babies tend to express better to their parents when they are understood. Research reveals that when the parents are more responsive, they tend to express their desires and liking clearly at a very young age. For example, they are capable of telling whether they like a particular color or dress.

Since the sign language also helps them to reinforce their expressions along with certain vocal terms, the toddler is able to improve the vocabulary easily during their growing years. In addition, they start enlarging the number of signs they use over a period of time.

Parents are able to communicate with ease in a manner in which the baby is able to understand. Reports also state that the toddlers show an increased interest in stories, books and other intellectual learning when the parents teach them since they are able to comprehend what is being communicated to them. Hence, they become attentive listeners. Their power of retention becomes higher as they understand the meaning though they may not be able to speak.

Sign language stimulates the brain development. This is because both the right and left hemispheres are used uniformly in the process. In addition, it raises the level of interaction and participation in many other activities like playing games. The self-esteem and confidence of the toddlers increase phenomenally. Childhood becomes more fun and brings a lot of satisfaction to both the parents and the infants. Hence, sign language courses are becoming popular in many countries.
