Babies cry when they find it helpless to communicate what they need. It is up to the parent to try different things in order to understand what he or she wants. Initially, it could be a challenge to interpret why babies cry. Over a period time, generally they would get to know the answer.
Here a few things to try when a baby cries:
• The first and most common reason why babies cry is hunger. Try feeding your baby and see whether she gulps in food eagerly. If yes, you have found the answer.
• If you have just fed and the baby still cries and refuses to gulp in food, probably there is a gastric formation. Try burping and see whether there is some relief.
• If your baby is breathless while crying, there is a high possibility of some pain. Check whether there is possibility that something has hurt.
• Babies also tend to cry if they are feeling tired or sleepy. Pat her on the back softly and talk soothingly in order to lullaby your infant to sleep.
• If you find your baby restless while crying, check whether you need to change the diaper. You may also try changing the position in which your infant is lying down. Check for any object beneath the seat to see whether there is anything uncomfortable. If the place is too sultry, try to take the infant to a more airy and comfortable place.
• If your baby is not responsive to anything you try, play some soft music. That may divert and calm him or her down.
• Babies who feel cold can also start crying. Try wrapping in a snugly blanket and give a cosy feeling.
• Sometimes, a hug can make all the difference. Your infant may have had an unpleasant dream or got frightened seeing something. Hold your infant tight to give a secure feeling.
• If your baby starts crying when you are holding, try leaving down on a mat. Probably, some space is all what they require.
• Toys can also be a good distraction for a crying baby. For all you know, your infant is just bored!
• Try and show something new or take your baby outdoors. A good backyard, a colorful garden, some fresh air could do all the magic.
• If the baby is restless in a crowded or noisy place, taking to a quieter environment could stop the crying.
• Babies can also cry if they find their parents restless or not in a good mood! Check whether your heart is beating too fast or you are restless! You can stop your baby crying by calming yourself in the first place.
• Try and show funny faces. Your baby may forget crying and start smiling.
• You can also smile warmly at your baby. A smile from you can be the solution.
• Sing a soft song to soothe your baby. Your voice can calm the infant down to a great deal.
• Start talking softly if you are not too comfortable singing.
