Socializing Your New Puppy
By Jonathan Pitts | Pet Related | Unrated

The best way to start with your new puppy is to socialize them with other people and other dogs as well. It is a very important aspect of training your new puppy. Good socializing will make your puppy become more confident. Teaching your new puppy about social skills will help them live a more meaningful life. Bad habits may also be prevented by teaching social skills to your puppy. Your puppy will have a happier and stable life if they will acquire the sense of socializing with others.

There is no age requirement for you to be able to teach your dog on how to socialize. Puppies may act differently, some puppy maybe shy and some are active. The personality of your dog is not an important consideration for them to teach some skill. Whether they have good or bad traits this will affect them until they reach their old age. You have to fill them with good memories and skills within their first month of life.

This will help them to become a happy and contented dog. If your puppy is about 6-7 weeks old, you can start your training early. There are certain skills that the puppy may learn from his mother right away. One trait could be staying at their place and avoid wandering around. This is an important trait they acquire from the wild; this is to protect themselves from other predators. You must retain this learned behavior that comes from their mother. This learned behavior can be helpful when you are training them about the sit and stay command.

Another trait that your puppy might acquire to their mother is the jumping and licking of faces. Puppy tends to lick and jump into their mother to recognized its presence after being absent for quite some time. This is the kind of trait that you may want your puppy to forget.

Another very important aspect of socializing your puppy is exposure. You have to expose your dog in an open environment for them to get use into this kind of set up. If you introduce new things to your puppy at a very young age they will not be struck at these things when they encounter it later on in life.

The most important thing for you to do as a dog owner is to make your puppy be familiar with other dogs. Sometimes, when your new puppy arrives at your home there are no other dogs for them to interact. They can only see few when having walks at the park or visit some friends home. You can create a bigger problem when your puppy does not get any other interaction aside from human interaction.

They may forget about the trait of being a dog and later on may establish wrong signals to other dogs he will meet. This can be one of the reasons why some dog fights with each other. Always remember that if your dog is scared with humans other dogs he can be very dangerous. Socializing your dogs properly will make them become more friendly and cheerful.
