Five Tips to Ensure an Obedient Dog
By Jonathan Pitts | Training | Unrated

Proper training of your dog is one of the greatest achievements of having a dog. This is the most important factor and responsibility of pet owners. A well trained dog can assure you of decreasing their risk of being lost. Pet behaviorist said that a trained obedient dog is happier because they avoid the stress of being the dominant specie. Dogs tend to be more contented about their status as not being dominant and you together with your family are the alpha animal for them.

1. If you want to train your dog, you should start as early as possible. Younger dogs are easier to train than older ones. You need to practice patience to be able to train your dog the way you want. Older dogs can be trained successfully if given extra attention by their owners. Whether your dog is still a puppy or older ones the training should start as early as possible. If want to enforce rules on your dog do it on the beginning of their stay inside your house. A lot of owners tend to neglect some house rules for their new dogs. You have to enforce an authority with your dog if you want your dog to obedient.

2. You have to be more consistent when training your dog. Routine is a very good strategy in training your dog. You have to set a time for them to eat and walk every day. After doing this, your dog will get used to this kind of set up after a few days. Owners should teach their dogs about discipline by giving schedule for their activity.

3. Obedience training may be depending on the age and the temperament of your dog. Begin with just small session together with your dog. Do not rush your dog on learning too many tasks a day. Take time to learn one task a day or until your dog get used on that specific task. Always start with the basic movements like sit and stay.

4. Do not shout at your dog. A lot of dogs do not want harsh voices and shouting. If your dog does something unacceptable just say "No" in firm but not shouting voice. Unrestrictive behavior and non worrying acts can be ignored by dog owners. Dog’s natural instinct is to please his master or owners. You have to give attention and praise your dog’s good acts and ignore the negative ones, this will send them some signal to understand what is good and not.

5. The important thing to remember when training a dog is to let them recognize you as the leader. Some trainers used alpha rolling or mimicking some animal traits of wild wolves is an effective method in training your dogs. This is the best way to introduce your authority over your dog. You can insert your authority by having simple gesture as removing their toy or bowl of food. If your dog responds by barking ignore them and just continue. Do this frequently for them to understand who the boss is.
