How to Make a More Alkaline Body

Making the body more alkaline is one of the most controversial topics. There are a number of experts who go against alkalinizing the body as it affects the overall health, whereas there are many others who say that alkalinizing the body is a good thing. However, there is no harm as such in alkalinizing your body. There are several methods that can be practiced to make the body more alkaline.

• You should reduce the amount of meat that you consume. Meat is an acid-forming food and raises the acidity of the body. If possible you should stop eating meat for a while when you wish to make your body more alkaline.

• Avoid having coffee and smoking. Alcohol should also be avoided.

• Having a low carb diet definitely makes your body more alkaline.

• Change your lifestyle. Having disturbed sleep or undergoing a lot of stress makes the body acidic. Try to get long hours of sleep in the night and wake up fresh.

• Squeeze lemon juice of a full lemon in a glass of water equal to the amount of the lemon juice and drink twice in a day. Though lemon juice is of acidic nature but when metabolized inside the body it turns to be alkaline.

• Try and include lots of fresh fruits in your diet. Berries, melons, apple, avocadoes, cantaloupe, peach, pineapple, pear and many other fruits are of alkaline nature. Fresh fruit juices are also equally alkaline and you should consume them more often. However, if you have digestion problems then you should prefer having cooked fruits. This will be gentle on the stomach and also helps you in making your body more alkaline.

• You can also consume mineral and vitamin supplements that will help you make the body more alkaline. Magnesium and vitamin C increase the alkalinity of the body significantly. When having these supplements it is important that you follow the dosage recommended by the manufacturer.

• Have more greens like turnip, kale, mustard greens, and collard and endive greens. All of these increase alkalinity. You should have at least 2 cups of alkalinizing green every day. Seaweed also has the capability of alkalinizing the body; hence you should also have this on a daily basis.

• You can include foods like sweet potato, yams, quinoa, oats, lentils and wild rice in your diet.

Here is a list of alkalinizing vegetables:
