Dealing With Syphilis of the Face

Syphilis is a kind of sexually transmitted disease that is characterized by the formation of sores on all body parts. It can be found on the face appearing as patches of open sores on the lips and mouth. It is transmitted through oral sex, kissing and direct contact with a person already infected with the disease.

The syphilis on the face starts by getting infected by someone who is already infected with the disease thru oral sex. In its early primary stage, there would be some large open sores around the lip area. These sores may also be present on the tongue and on the insides of the mouth. For its secondary stage reddish bumps appear all around the mouth. Red skin rashes also appear all over the body. Abnormal hair loss is also experienced. Those with severe case of syphilis of the face may suffer deformities because of contortions caused by the large sores and the bacteria itself.

The best way to deal with syphilis is to have basic knowledge about the disease. Let it be known that it is a highly contagious disease that can be transferred because of unsafe sex practices. Those bad practices are having multiple partners, not using protection like condoms, not maintaining regular health check-ups, bad personal hygiene practices and outright self-neglect of not knowing about sex-related diseases.

Syphilis can be treated if detected in its early stages. The symptoms are common like irritation around the genital areas, hands and palms, feet and around the face. What then follows is the appearance of sores in small patches spread all over the infected areas. The doctor should be immediately consulted to treat these early stages of syphilis to prevent further health complications. Just remember that if syphilis is left untreated, it can infect the heart, the nervous system and other internal organs of the body, it would cause severe pain and the ultimate result would be death.

The main treatment for syphilis is thru antibiotics. The antibiotic used is penicillin. It can be given thru injections or it can be taken orally as capsules depending on the stage of the disease. But, the preferred treatment is always penicillin which is injected to reduce the spread of the disease in the body. Blood tests are done as the next procedure to detect if penicillin is taking effect on the disease. In case the person is allergic to penicillin, then another drug known as Doxycycline is used as treatment.

Knowing about the treatment is good but knowing about prevention is better. To avoid syphilis, always use protection like latex condoms. Practice safe sex preferably with one partner. Avoid skin to skin contacts with people who have symptoms of the disease. The syphilis can infect all areas of the body. But, having it on the face is really a great social embarrassment and discomfort. You deal with it as a medical condition that can be treated by taking the prescribed antibiotics diligently and strictly following whatever medical advice your doctor gives you.
