Relieve Menstrual Cramping With Molasses
By Kyle Oliart | Menstruation Pain | Unrated

Menstrual cramping is usually a common effect of menstruation that causes pain and discomfort to women. Cramping may be caused by prostaglandins in the body which make the uterus contract resulting to reduction of blood flow in the uterus. Molasses is thick brown syrup and considered a healthy sweetener. It comes from sugar cane and can also be formed when sugar syrup is boiled to form into crystalline substances. It can be substituted for honey or maple syrup. It contains a lot of minerals, nutrients, iron, calcium and other ingredients that are beneficial to health. It is used in some baking recipes like cookies and gingerbread. Molasses have different types and grades and the best of its kind is the blackstrap molasses and it said to have the best nutritional value of all.

Molasses has health benefits that would reduce menstrual cramping. Those women who are suffering from this condition are advised to take 2-3 tbsp of molasses daily to help reduce pain. The molasses contain ingredients that would prevent the uterus from cramps. These healthy components are calcium, magnesium, iron, potassium, selenium, manganese and vitamin B6. All of these are important to maintain healthy muscles, and since the uterus is considered a muscle then it benefits from these nutrients.

Molasses are inexpensive and are readily available in groceries and health stores. You can drink it directly once or twice a day as part of your daily health regimen. You can also combine it with soy milk or almond milk. A spoonful of molasses in milk makes a healthy drink day and night.

A spoonful of molasses can also be taken with ginger tea to relieve cramps. You can mix about half a cup of molasses and eggs into some cookie recipes and get the healthy benefits. Cookies made from molasses instead of sugar can help ease out cramps.

Molasses particularly the blackstrap molasses has a good source of iron that helps women with cramps make up for their iron deficiency during menstruations. Two teaspoons of blackstrap molasses would provide enough iron to prevent menstrual cramps. It also provides the calcium content to help facilitate physiological functions particularly reducing blood clotting during menstruation, thus preventing cramps.

Women can use molasses in their daily diets or during their menstrual days. Molasses can be added to baked beans to have more flavors. It can be used as basting for chicken and turkey. It can be an added ingredient to make cakes, bread and cookies. You can also have a choice of just filling up a glass of warm water and 2 tsp of molasses and drink up.

Another good thing about molasses is that it has no side effects and has no allergic reactions to people who use it as part of their diets.
