Bacterial vaginosis is one of the most common bacterial infections that affect the vagina. If the symptom includes burning and itching around the vagina and the discharge is gray or white in color and has a fishy smell, then possibly, you are suffering from bacterial vaginosis. Treating the condition naturally is not difficult if the symptoms are mild. There are some very simple steps that you can take to treat the condition. Bacterial vaginosis is generally caused because of an imbalance in the bacteria that naturally occur in the vagina. In normal conditions, there is an abundance of bacteria present in the vagina that maintains the health.

The bacteria flourish in the mild acidic conditions and when there is an alteration in the pH levels leading to an alkaline nature, it can make the healthy bacteria perish and result in growth of the harmful ones. This results in causing bacterial vaginosis. To treat the condition, you should first consider whether you are over washing the area, making use of perfumed soaps constantly and frequently, can result in removing the healthy bacteria from the area leading to an imbalance. Hence, it is important that you should not wash the area more than twice in a day and avoid the use of perfumed products. If you are susceptible to contracting the condition frequently, then you should never douche.

Tea tree and probiotic yogurt are two everyday used substances that can be used as home remedy for treating the condition. Tea tree oil is a natural antibacterial substance; try to add around 10-12 drops of the oil in your bathwater, this will help you get rid of the harmful bacteria. There are also tea tree oil pessaries made available in health stores which have been proven to be fast acting and effective in these conditions. The probiotic curd is rich in healthy bacteria and by applying the yogurt directly in the vaginal area with the help of a tampon will help you replenish the depleted bacteria. Even eating probiotic yogurt one pot a day can also help you cure the bacterial vaginosis.

Oil of oregano squeezed from the oregano seeds is considered to be an antifungal, antibacterial and also has antiparasitic and anti-inflammatory properties. It serves as an excellent cure for bacterial vaginosis. Another cure can be by making use of an apple cider vinegar. To make effective use of this remedy add one to two cups of the apple cider vinegar in your bathwater and soak yourself in it for 20 minutes. The vinegar is effective in fighting the toxins that form as a result of bacterial vaginosis.

Another effective way of treating bacterial vaginosis is the intake of folic acid. This can be bought from any local pharmacy shop. Make sure that you use the supplement effectively and follow the directions of intake mentioned on the bottle. When curing bacterial vaginosis, you can wear light 100% cotton clothing that allows the skin of the vagina to breathe. It is also important that you should keep washing the vagina with water regularly to clean the excessive fluid that leaks as a result of the bacterial vaginosis.
