Do Microdermabrasion Acne Treatments Work?
By Jason Ladock | Acne | Unrated

Acne, a skin disorder that leaves scars on the face that makes most of us hide our faces in public gatherings. Teenagers are greatly affected by acne. Even some adults suffer with acne. There are a variety of treatment options to overcome acne. This article focuses on the importance of microdermabrasion in treating acne.

The principle behind microdermabrasion is the elimination of the outermost skin layer with the help of non-abrasive creams. In this method a spray containing micro crystals which are made of aluminum-oxide is used to get rid of the topmost layer. This technique only removes the top layers that are affected by acne. Along with these micro crystals, the suction pressure used helps to unclog all the pores and unplugs the blackheads and other dirt particles present inside the pores. All these are dead cells and the process does not cause any side effects on the living cells.

An added advantage of this technique is that it promotes the growth of new skin layer. This is made possible by acting on the skin cells that promote the formation of new skin layer. These are nothing but the elastin and collagen that play role in rejuvenating the skin after any minor damage. By increasing the production of elastin, the skin cells are brought back to normal condition.

This process of using micro crystal sprays is an effective way to get rid of acne. It is free of any side effects. It is just because the crystals remain on the skin for less than a second, a time that is insufficient to cause any reactions on the skin. Though microdermabrasion is an effective way to get rid of acne, it should not be used in cases of mild acne. In mild cases, it causes more damage to the skin than good.

It is essential to take care while selecting microdermabrasion creams. Chemicals contained in these creams cause harm to the skin. Hence, it is essential to select creams that contain ingredients to counteract the effects of these chemicals. One such ingredient which helps to counteract the effects of these chemicals is aspirin. It reduces the extent of skin irritation and inflammation.

Another beautiful aspect of this technique is it is very cheap compared to other microdermabrasion treatments such as laser treatment which are not only expensive but also very painful. These treatments also help to control acne. This is because of the anti-bacterial property of these creams, which kills the major causative agents of acne, bacteria present in the skin.

As can be seen from the above discussion, microdermabrasion is a non-invasive treatment and hence, it does not cause any pain. On the other hand, invasive techniques such as laser treatment and skin resurfacing are very painful. This is the reason why a great number of people prefer microdermabrasion, a very effective way to get rid of acne scars on your face. There is no doubt that this technique to treat acne works, but care should be taken while selecting the micro crystal creams.
