It’s a common belief that anxiety is caused due to factors beyond one’s control. Blaming external factors make us overlook the fact that negative thoughts are often the prime culprit responsible for anxiety attacks and unhappiness in our lives. We often try to be the master of our fate by predicting the future. We resort to thoughts which have a negative outcome that eventually mess up the whole situation. More than often, predicting the future negatively leads to negative outcome, even if the situation was favorable in the first place.
You should stop assuming what others are thinking about you. If you constantly indulge in the thought that the other person hates or dislikes you, then you will only be tarnishing your own image. If you fall into this assumption trap, you will end up feeling low in confidence and self esteem.
There will be many instances in life when your work will not be appreciated by all. Let’s say you prepared a presentation for a meeting to the best of your ability. Once you start the presentation you will see some people yawning and showing lack of interest in your presentation. This will certainly be a turn off for you, and you will start thinking that your work was worthless and of no use. If you allow these negative thoughts to wander in your mind, then you will only spoil the interest of people who liked your presentation. Remember, no matter what you do, half of the world will always be with you, and the other half against you. No one out there is perfect. The last thing you would ever want to do is compare yourself with others to an extent that you will be responsible for inviting negative thoughts in your lives. It’s a normal tendency for human beings to compare themselves with people who are more fortunate than them, and then indulge in the self pitying act. Once you start comparing yourself with others highlighting all the negative thoughts, you will only give rise to anxiety attack.
