Everyday we see gorgeous female celebrities grace the various forms of media. Most of us catch glimpses at the checkout stand and may even peruse any given magazine while waiting for the clerk and customer ahead of us to finish their witty, yet shallow conversation. With the pressure for stars to maintain a 'beautiful person' image, I was quite surprised to find a very popular singing sensation gracing the cover of Enquirer with her backside looking a little less toned than I had imagined. I was surprised that such a young, energetic, fit individual would be privy to what moms dread every time we put on a swimsuit. (As an aside I was actually glad that maybe since she is such an idol to so many young girls, hopefully they will see that you do not have to be anorexic-thin to be cool, hip and beautiful.) As well, I nearly fell out of my chair a couple years back while watching a very gorgeous and petite country singer talk about the fact that she also has the visible side effects of fat cells on her legs.
Okay, I'll go ahead and say the nasty little word... cellulite! Women hate cellulite. The fact is that it is technically no different than the rest of the fat cells that inhabit our body, but its visible presentation draws attention because of a resemblance to cottage cheese or an orange peel. Luckily, supplied with the notion that bodies are not perfect even in the most famous circles of life, for the client who seeks personal training for the sake of lessening the appearance of cellulite, there is some relief. Since cellulite is just another word for fat, what is the greatest solution for getting rid of body fat? That's right, good old fashioned exercise and nutrition. Decreasing body fat through cardio and strength training will lessen the appearance of cellulite.
Success factors.
Getting at least twenty minutes of cardio exercise four times per week or forty-five minutes three days per week, with both at 70-80% of maximal heart rate (no easy strolls here!).
Strength-training two to three times per week for a minimum of thirty minute sessions.
Good nutrition dictated by the Healthy Eating Pyramid (possibly in conjunction with maintaining a moderate glycemic response)* The book we recommend is ... let's think about this a second ... Mom Looks Great - The Fitness Program For Moms, of course!
Good health and subsequent improved body image is no longer rocket science. Fitness information abounds. You simply need to consult a reputable source, be it an accredited fitness website, a knowledgeable Personal Trainer or the pages of a noteworthy book. Consistently following an effective fitness program is the surest way to lessen the appearance of cellulite. And, might we add, diminishing the dimpled loveliness of your backside only scratches the surface of the benefits that a dedicated fitness plan can enable you.
