Sales of natural beauty skin care products have dramatically increased as consumers become more aware that their skin absorbs whatever they put on it. It has become increasingly obvious that the American (and in fact the global) cosmetic industry is poorly regulated with regards to labeling and ingredients and even animal testing. Therefore, it only makes sense to look for safe, natural skin care beauty products as alternatives to the mainstream commercial products.
Most of the synthetic chemical preservatives used in commercial beauty skin care products have been identified as carcinogenic and serious risks to human health. However, it is possible to preserve beauty skin care products naturally by using essential oils, honey, vitamin E, lemon, sugar and other ingredients. Using ingredients such as essential oils and antioxidants to act as preservatives means that natural beauty skin care products can be created commercially with a limited shelf life. Without such preservatives, natural products need to be refrigerated as soon as they are opened. This also means that you can make your own natural skin care beauty products with natural preservatives.
If you are interested in creating your own natural beauty skin care products, you need to make essential oils your friend. Essential oils are natural oils extracted from flowers, leaves, woody plants and grasses. During the cholera epidemics in France during the 1800's it was found that people who worked in perfume factories and were exposed to the vapors of essential oils rarely contracted the disease. We now know that most of the essential oils used in perfume production have a strong antiseptic action and safely kill most harmful bacteria and fungi that humans are likely to come in contact with. Herpes has even been known to be killed by essential oils. Consequently, their use in skin care beauty products can be seen as a significant health benefit.
However, when you use essential oils to make your own beauty skin care products you need to be aware that using too much of some essential oils can cause dermatitis and other skin irritations. You also need to ensure that your skin care beauty products remain covered as the essential oils can evaporate if not covered. This means that your preparation can lose the preservative, antiseptic and antifungal effects of the oils.
There are many excellent recipes for beauty skin care products freely available on the internet. Simply search for 'skin care recipes' or 'natural skin care recipes' and you will find plenty.
Here is an excellent recipe for a Cucumber Honey Toner to get you started on creating your own beauty skin care products:
Take: 1 medium Cucumber, peeled and cut up into pieces and 2 tsp. Honey.
Put the cut cucumber in a blender and puree. Pour the blended cucumber through a lined sieve, into a glass bowl. Allow it to stand for at least fifteen minutes so all liquid can fill the bowl. Dissolve honey in a small amount of hot, pure water and pour into the bowl. Stir. Once the honey is completely mixed through the cucumber liquid, pour into a clean bottle.
Before use, shake the bottle and pour the preparation onto a cotton pad and wipe over your face and neck allowing it to dry in the air. Some people also use the preparation on their chest. The preparation must be covered and stored in the refrigerator for no longer than one week.
This is one of the easiest beauty skin care products to make. In fact, most beauty skin care products can be made without a great deal of effort or expense. If you are serious about using totally natural skin care beauty products you can't go wrong making your own. This way you know exactly what is in your own preparations and if you want to purchase organic ingredients you can even make your own organic beauty skin care products. It's safe, healthy and cheap so why not give it a go?
