Is your hair becoming a hassle for you to take care of? Perhaps it's too short, too long, too thin, or maybe it is just damaged. Many women have resulted in getting hair extensions for their hair for the reasons above.
For most women, the main reason that they decide to get hair extensions, is so that they can have longer more manageable hair. There are many different things you will need to consider when deciding on the many options of how to get your hair extensions done. What length to buy, what color to choose, quality, and how much you want to spend.
How to Get Them Done. First we'll start with the cheapest way to get the extensions done. If you're on a budget, you will probably want to consider looking up some online guides on do-it-yourself, to do your extensions at home. You will go to your nearest local hair supplies shop and look at the many different hair selections, and like I said, if you're on a budget and you are just interested in having a different look, or adding some length to the hair, you will probably spend about $10 for cheap quality hair, or synthetic hair. I will explain the difference between synthetic hair, and human hair.
Synthetic Hair. Is fake hair. I really would not recommend buying this hair. I have my own special word for this type of hair and that is "Barbie Doll Hair". The last thing you honestly want to consider buying is synthetic hair because it is more like plastic. You cannot do much with it, you can't straighten it, or blows dry it. Any heat would destroy it.
It does not last as long as Human hair, it looks messy and tangly within a few days and is obvious to many women that are familiar with extensions that are fake.
Human Hair. This hair is REAL. 100% real. It will last a lot longer than synthetic hair, you can wash it, blow dry it, straighten; treat it pretty much like your real hair. There are however special moisturizing products that you would need to use on your extensions to maintain a neat look, because human hair extensions can get tangly as well if not taken care of. The reason there are special moisturizers and other hair products specifically made for extensions is to help you to maintain a decent look while wearing them, since they do not produce the natural oils that your real hair produces.
Now continuing on with how to get them done. You would most likely have someone that you know do them for you if you're aiming for the cheapest way of getting them done. You can either get them sewn-in, or glue them in. I recommend getting them sewn in, only because this will help to aid in hair growth, and it is healthier for your hair. Getting them glued in would be messy, and they would not last as long. Eventually the tracks will begin to fall out if you they are glued in.
If you do not remove them properly with the special removal glue or by using shampoo and water to gently remove them, then you can damage your hair.
The second way to get them done is by a professional hairstylist. Make sure you try to choose a hairstylist recommended to you by someone you know. When going to a salon to get hair extensions put in, it will take at least 3 hours at the most, depending on your hair, how thick it is, or how thin it is. People with more hair, takes the stylist longer to finish with them.
Now before going to the stylist, you will go to the hair supply store and choose the extensions that you want. The length, the color, and the amount that you want to pay.
If you have highlights in your hair, you need to make sure you choose the extensions that will match your high-lights, or extensions that have highlights in them that are the same color as your highlights. I have found that the women that work in the hair supply stores are very helpful when you need an opinion on what hair color to choose. They will be happy to help you.
To get to the point, hair extensions are a fun and exciting way to add length, color, volume, or just simply to experiment and try something different. I would highly recommend doing as much research as possible before venturing into this creative way of styling your hair.
