Dairy products: Almost three-quarters of the adults in the world suffer from lactase deficiency, which is responsible for the breakdown of lactose found in dairy products. Deficiency of lactase would make it difficult for anyone to digest dairy products like milk, cheese, yogurt and the like. When you are unable to digest the milk products, then the bacteria come into action and break down these into fermented products which lead to gas, bloating and diarrhea. However, this deficiency can be rectified with the help of several medical products. If not, then you should consume a diet that has less of lactose.

These oligosaccharides stay back in the intestines and the bacteria thrive on it resulting in its fermentation, which can lead to gas and bloating of the stomach. Soy also contains a component called as trypsin, which interferes with the digestion of proteins. The tolerance of soy varies in people. There are some who can tolerate it well whereas others who find it difficult to tolerate and end up having indigestion.
Beverages like tea and coffee: Caffeine present in tea or coffee can lead to indigestion in a number of people. Coffee being acidic in nature can cause a problem for people who suffer from acid influx problem. When you have coffee or tea, it results in gastric secretions, which can be a problem for people who have, complains of ulcers and acid reflux.
Spicy foods: Having spicy food is another reason for frequent indigestion. If the spicy food comes along with lots of fat and oil and you have had that lip licking chocolate dessert, it can result in worsening your stomach indigestion. Food containing fats and chocolate can result in the incidence of acid influx, and hence lead to indigestion.
