There may be many “yes” and equal number of “no”, voicing their opinion over this, thus strengthening the arguments revolving around this issue. The fact of the matter is that most of the statistics concerning abortion do not depict a satisfactory picture. In fact, abortion has always been a heated subject amongst the masses as people have their own school of thoughts regarding it.
That being said, there are many laws governing the legality of this issue. While in as much as 30 countries, abortion is legalized, remaining countries have partial restrictions or complete ban on abortion, unless life of the mother is at stake. You would be surprised to know that abortion caused due to rape and other health complications account to nearly 7%, while the remaining cases of abortion are primarily a result of personal and social issues. It’s interesting to learn the pros and cons of abortion as it offers us a great insight about this issue. Let’s move on to the pros and cons of abortion.
Abortion Cons
-By all accounts, abortion appears like an awful crime. After all, abortion implies denying someone a well-deserved life. Just because the odds are not in our favor, can we deprive someone the chance to live?
-By terminating a life, can we justify our acts? A baby is often considered as a God’s gift, and it’s believed that every living being has a purpose behind his/her birth. By tampering with a life, aren’t we acting against the creator of the world?
-Having an abortion done always carries the risk of not being able to become pregnant ever again in life.
-Abortion can also lead to serious health complications, and in some cases the worst case scenario can be death.
-It often leads to unwanted memories, which can result into great stress and depression. Some women experience a feeling of guilt, which lasts for their whole lifetime. In short, abortion can turn out to be a lifetime worth of burden.
Abortion Pros
-Sometimes life can be really harsh on us. There are times when abortion may appear as the only option for the betterment. Although a mother may have a hard time opting for this option, she may eventually consider this soul-killing decision, keeping in mind all the pros and cons of this decision.
-At the end of the day, a mother has to go through the actual labor pain and other issues involved with parenting and juggling responsibilities. Others can’t precisely gauge or understand the level of trauma that a woman may be experiencing in her personal life. She is the only person who knows best, if she would be able to take care of the unplanned child or not. We all know that it’s merely impossible to raise a child without family support and finance in hand. To a great extent, the life of the baby depends upon the mother’s health.
-In some cases, medical emergencies compel a woman to resort to this action. There is a possibility that her own life might be at risk, if she delivers the child.
-Some of the rape victims can be minors. They wouldn’t be mentally or physically prepared to take care of the newborn baby. Why should such victims go through the ordeal of bearing a child, which is a product of some unfortunate incident of their life?
-Technologies have enabled disease detection amongst unborn babies. Giving life to an unhealthy baby and watching it suffer all day and night can be highly jeopardizing for the family as well as the newborn child.
-Can a woman be forced to produce a life? Giving life to an unwanted child might invite world of troubles for both mother and the child. So, are we being fair to the child?
Whether you agree or not, abortion will always play an active role in our society. In the US itself, more than 4000 cases of abortion are reported on daily basis. While for one, abortion can be a highly miserable experience, to the other, having a forced child can be a highly miserable experience. It’s impossible to go by a rule book, when it comes to dealing with an issue, where human lives are at stake. At the end of the day, a mother has every right to decide the next move of her life!

In many states there is already a law that lets woman get an abortion in the case that she got raped or that there was intense. But past those two points woman do not really have a good reason to get an abortion, other than that they could have a health risk associated with the pregnancy would cause her to abort the child. But in most cases woman get an abortion because they are not personally ready to have a baby, and that should not be a strong enough reason so an innocent life to be lost.
Random schoolgirl. There is also a thing called adoption. If it is rape you are going to have to deal with the fact you were raped anyways, no matter if you get pregnant or not.
It is honestly awful to expect a rape victim to still carry the fetus to full term, especially if that victim is a minor and is still going through school. Continuing the pregnancy will cause them to miss significant amounts of school and will almost guarantee that they get bullied and harassed. This can cause the victim to become depressed and severely mentally unstable which can cause their physical health to decline therefore directly impacting the health of the fetus negatively.

What is your reasoning for this conclusion? Your only defense is that it is morally wrong. Unfortunately many women are forced to give birth to a child when many factors could easily ruin both the mother and the child. If you are so concerned by a group of cells with no nerve endings then you should believe that all life is equal. Meaning you shouldn’t hurt/kill anything alive such as animals (which you shouldn’t) because to you even an egg and sperm is “murder”. What I am trying to say is that it is the woman’s choice whether or not she wishes to abort and so it shouldn’t be the government’s choice. Personally, if I was raped and got pregnant, I am getting an abortion no matter what anyone says. I refuse to go through the pain of carrying a rapist's unwanted child, go through the pain of labor and birth and then give the child away only to have it find me some number of years later to learn I hated it.

I am definitely against abortion! I can understand if the person is a rape victim, or has medical conditions; but why throw away a precious little life? ABORTION IS BASICALLY MURDER! A baby that is killed probably could have been a doctor or the president of the United States if it wasn't killed. If you are afraid that your child will have birth defects or Down syndrome, then DONT HAVE CHILDREN or you can put then for adoption! I bet that there are many couples who would love to adopt a child, probably because they can't have kids! Think about people who can't have kids!!! They would love to have kids, but they can't; the people who don't want kids but get pregnant just do abortion. IT'S SOOO WRONG! I used to be against abortions, but after being in college, not having a job & finding out I was pregnant, I chose to go through with terminating the pregnancy. It was something my fiancé & I disgusted extensively. We knew what our options were & thought through them thoroughly. Parenting isn't for everyone, neither is adoption. Everyone is different & people need to understand that.
Abortion as a form of birth control? Definitely not. Abortion in the case of rape? Should be considered depending on your beliefs. Abortion used when mother has a high probability of dying during child birth? Definitely an option. Abortion used when the unborn child will not be able to survive outside the womb? Should be considered depending on your beliefs. I, personally, would only have an abortion if my life depended on it. I am a single parent with two wonderful children who need me. If something happens to me, they have no one. They would go to the state, and not very many people can handle my 12 year old son with his mental and emotional issues. Therefore, if I can prevent my death in any way, I WILL do so, regardless of how I may feel afterwards. In ANY other instance, I would choose adoption if necessary. If raped, adoption (preferably closed). If the unborn child has deformities (according to the doctors via ultrasound), I would still carry the child to term, because there is always the possibility that the doctors could be wrong. However, I do NOT believe that I have the right to deny another mother the right to choose, no matter the circumstance. My personal beliefs aside, the bible tells us plainly that we should not judge each other. That should be left up to God himself. Do not judge, or you may be judged yourself. And Jesus himself said he who is without sin may throw the first stone. Therefore, I will NOT judge another human being or tell them whether abortion is right or wrong. It is not my place.

OK, abortion should be legal. And to the people who said it shouldn't if it were you and you were raped would you want to keep the baby? What if the birth guaranteed your death? Even though adoption is an option what would it be like to see your child 20 years later and have them learn you didn't want them? All of the pain and risks along with financial stress could be gone. Why allow abortion, it is killing the life of a human being, would you have liked your parents to have aborted you and taken your life away? I feel that no matter what way you’re putting this, no women should get an abortion. How would you feel if your mother tried to abort you? Life is life, whether it’s outside the womb or not. To those stating that adoption is *always* an option and that abortion is murder in any situation, I must respond: Adoption is a long, expensive, and arduous process. It's not at all simply as easy as saying "I don't want this child." and then people just fall in line to receive it. For adopting people there is a range of requirements and obstacles they have to overcome in order to adopt. Additionally, there are several states which give the *rapist* who parented a child rights to the child, meaning that if a victim of rape wants to give up her child she must first gain the consent of her rapist. Yes, she has to ask her rapist permission. If she decides to keep the child, the rapist can sue for visitation forcing the victim to face her rapist regularly. What's more gross, removing an undeveloped fetus, or essentially raping a victim over and over (by forcing her to relive trauma) in your high and mighty efforts to force everyone to act the way you think they should?
I believe that abortion is murder even if you are raped. There are couples who would love to have children who can't. I have a medical issue and still want to try to have children of my own. I have heart failure. I honestly don't care if I die in child birth because I know my family will raise that child or my husband will raise him/her and tell them how much their mother loves them and wishes she could be here with them. I have heart failure and would die for my baby to be able to live and do something extraordinary with their life. Abortion isn't the only option. If you are raped then give the baby to a family who will love it. Just because you are raped by a stranger doesn't mean you should get an abortion. The part about rape, it shouldn't matter if they are minors. Yes it is extra traumatizing but even full grown women who are raped can be unprepared to be a mother. No one is obligated to be a mother or parent. Rape itself is a terrible action on its own, but to be forced into conceiving that person’s child would be scarring on anyone, no matter the age.
Yes it is scarring, but there are people out in this world who can’t have children, and would do anything for one. So put your child up for adoption instead of killing it. Also, my Grandma was gang raped when she was 15, but she’s learned to forget it, and love my father anyways. Because when it came to that choice she’d rather love him, then kill him.
I think that abortion should be illegal, not only are you taking someone else's life, you are putting yourself through guilt. My mom got pregnant for the first time when she was 19 but got an abortion because "she wasn't ready to be a mom". But she all the people in the world to help her get through it. When I asked why she didn't just put it up for adoption, she said that, that would feel even worse knowing that you gave your child up. But then why would you allow a doctor to kill it? That baby will never have its first steps, first word, fall in love, graduate high school or possibly college, get married or have children of his own because she decided that his life didn't matter because she wasn't ready to be a mom. Well, to me, even if I wasn't ready, I still would have tried to be the best parent that I was to that child. And the state should make it a law that abortion is illegal, but only on certain criteria, for example, if it was rape, or if the mother is about to die giving birth. Also, the doctors who perform the abortion, should be put in prison for life. I think that this is wrong and that no one should ever do this to their child.

I am glad that this article touched on abortion gently. It is a very touchy subject and many people can get offended. I personally believe that abortion is wrong, but I forgive those who have done it (even though my forgiveness doesn't mean much.) Carrying a new life is hard and may seem impossible at some points. That being said, if you are considering an abortion, think about the life that you are ending. I hope that everyone has the strength to make the right choice. God bless you and be with you all.

I know the situation will probably be over by the time you find this comment, but I think that you shouldn't go through with the abortion. I know that that is a very tough situation, but a baby is a baby even if it is created in an ideal situation. Also, if you believe abortion is wrong, stick with your gut. Hope you and your wife manage to get through this situation!

Life is a gift. It this gift should not be stolen. Babies are people too. Putting it bluntly, abortion is murder. If you're worried about discrimination, it is better to have a chance at a good life with the possibility of a bad life than having no chance at life at good life at all. In the event of rape, try to accept your child, but if you can't give it up for abortion. If your worried about them feeling rejected, they may feel sad that you didn't want them, but it is likely that they will feel some gratitude that you let them live. This article was a lot of help. I believe that abortion shouldn't be legal or illegal but should be restricted. People use abortion as birth control. Everyone knows how you can get pregnant and if you don't want kids then you should not be putting yourself in that position. I had a sister that was aborted and my mother regrets it every day. My other sister was pregnant and she was at risk or death when she was having her baby but she went through with the pregnancy anyways and they are both healthy and that baby girl is the sweetest little girl you'll ever meet. I believe that abortion should be legal, because some mothers are not capable of taking care of a child for 18 years, and adoption could be worse, by putting them into and unknown place, trying to figure out why there mother left them to discover new things on their own only to be adopted by some terrible people who treat them badly.
I will always believe abortion should be an option for some cases. Although, adoption should also be the number one choice unless you were raped. Personally, if I were to be raped I would not want to see the face of my rapist everyday on their child.

Coming from a Christian point of view, God has everything to do with our lives. It is not and will never be our place to decide whether or not a child born or unborn should live. Only God can make that decision. If you want to have sex before you’re in a committed relationship. It’s your fault not anyone else. The mother is not over the child.
