Want to Add a Lot of Muscle Fast? Consider Trying GOMAD!

If you’re one of those guys who just can’t gain muscle no matter what you do, then you might find yourself at the end of your tether. No guy likes to feel scrawny but what can you do?

Well, if you’re willing to try something slightly more towards the extreme end of things, you might consider GOMAD. GOMAD is an unusual technique that trainers occasionally recommend for hard gainers and some proponents even go as far as to say that the results are close to what they’d expect to see from steroid use. Specifically, the claim is that GOMAD can help you to add 25lbs in weight in just 25 days.

So what exactly is GOMAD and is it really as effective as all that?

How to Use GOMAD

GOMAD is an acronym for ‘Gallon Of Milk A Day’ and that pretty much sums up everything you need to know about it.

This isn’t a training routine then but rather a diet that involves eating what you would normally eat… plus a gallon of milk every day. You then keep this going for a month while training and at the end, you should see some impressive results.

So it’s pretty straightforward and uncomplicated but there the milk must be whole milk. Not skimmed or semi-skimmed and definitely not soy milk which may actually reduce your testosterone. Likewise, you need to make sure that you’re still training hard and that you’re still eating enough as well. When nothing else works, you add GOMAD on top of your previous routine – it’s not to be used ‘instead’ of all that other stuff.

Oh and no that GOMAD isn’t easy or particularly nice. You won’t just be adding muscle but also fat. You’ll possibly get some acne from it and you’ll feel bloated a lot of the time.

This is extreme measures only for the very desperate – not something I would recommend to most people.

How it Works

GOMAD does work though and it does help you to gain weight. This happens thanks to the large amounts of protein, calories and saturated fat contained in whole milk. While the calories prevent the muscle from being broken down and facilitate the creation testosterone, the saturated fat helps the body to create more testosterone. After all, testosterone is a steroid hormone and all steroid hormones are made from cholesterol. The good news is that whole milk will elevate the good kind of cholesterol and not the bad kind.

In terms of protein, a cup of milk will contain about 8 grams, which includes both whey and casein. With all these benefits combined, drinking that much is almost bound to result in at least some muscle gain and weight gain.

But it’s nasty and not feasible for the long term. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
