Intuition is a practice that is believed by many to be a powerful tool that we all possess to help us get through our lives efficiently. Others do not believe in the power of intuition and sometimes joke about it but they do not really believe in its ability. Intuition is that gut feeling you get telling you to do something or not to do something. Now you have to believe in yourself and your own ability to use and improve your intuition. We all have intuition and we all have had instinctual feelings about different circumstances. So it is not that you have to be a fortune teller or palm reader to have the gift of intuition, it is just a part of who we are. Awareness also involves becoming aware of your subconscious and how it speaks to you and guides you. It comes from a part of the mind that you do not necessarily have any control over but you must learn to understand it if you are going to understand how intuition works. Intuition comes from this part of the mind and works to help you through your life. It can guide you through rough times and steer you away from danger.
Take Time to Yourself
Take time to be by yourself in the quiet and enjoy spending time with yourself. Many of us have lots of time through the day where we spend time alone but we usually try to fill up that time by keeping ourselves busy. Instead of finding things to do during you alone time, spend that time just being with you and understanding who you are, what you believe in and what your thoughts are.
Take a walk, enjoy the peacefulness of nature or just sit quietly in your living room, just so you are alone with yourself and your thoughts. Try to keep your thoughts in the positive and push negative thoughts away, especially thoughts of self-doubt and self-condemnation. This is a time where you can learn to enjoy being who you are and learn to listen to yourself. This is an important practice that we have forgotten how to do and that is why many people feel that they do not understand themselves.
Meditation is a great way to learn to listen to your inter-self and improve your intuition. There are many CDs and DVDs on the market today that can help you learn how to clear your mind and meditate. You can also take a meditation class or hire a meditation coach to help you learn this process at a greater level. Meditation is the perfect way to release stress and tension and to clear your mind out, so that you can hear your intuition better.
You should start off by meditating at least twenty minutes every day for a month because this will train your mind how to instantly go into a meditative state when you need it to. After this initial month, you can drop back and meditate only three or four days a week if you would like. This will allow you to go into a meditative state and clear your mind when you are having a gut-feeling and by doing this, you will be able to listen better to what you are hearing.
Stick With Your First Decisions
Improving your intuition means putting it into practice and using it. Learn to stick with your first decision instead of weighing all of the options and going back and forth with your decision a hundred times. This will allow you to experience what your intuition is capable of doing and where it will lead you. You will also start learning to trust your instincts by seeing that you can make good decisions the first time.
This also helps you put your intuition into practice. You are never going to improve your intuition if you do not use it. Part of the key to intuition is understanding exactly what those gut feelings mean and how to act on those feelings appropriately. The more you use your intuition and trust on its results the more improvised you will become at using it correctly.
Keep a Dream Journal
Many people believe that our dreams have meanings behind them that are meant to help us through life. Dreams certainly are a source of our intuition and they can reveal a lot to us. The thing about dreams is that we often forget them almost as soon as we wake up. Keeping a dream journal can help you remember your dream and stir up those thoughts that may have meant something important to you.
Your dream journal should be kept beside your bed because this will allow you to write them down as soon as you wake up so that you do not forget them. You should spend some time each week to look back over your dream journal because things that did not make sense at the time may now be understood perfectly. Dream journals are also just fun to keep, to see where your thoughts are and to see what types of dreams you have most often. There may be a reoccurring dream that you keep having because there is an issue that needs to be resolved.
