External Hemorrhoid Vs Perianal Hematoma

Are you suffering from external hemorrhoid? Don’t know whether the cause of worry is external hemorrhoid or perianal hematoma? This is a regular problem experienced by people across the world. Let’s get a brief overview about external hemorrhoid and perianal hematoma to understand them better.

Perianal hematoma is a condition characterized by the compilation of blood outside the blood vessels which is a result of internal bleeding. In patients suffering from perianal hematoma, the blood gathers at the border of the anus caused because of the rupturing of the vein that collects blood from our anus. If you see a blue tinge below the surface of our skin at your anus, then this is an indication of perianal hematoma.

It can be felt over touch, and it grows in size over a period of time. A patient suffering from this condition will also experience mild pain which will last for several days. In some cases, one might experience severe pain as well as blood clotting. The pain will only increase when the skin around the affected area expands due the pressure thrown at it.

Hemorrhoids are often mistaken as perianal hematoma as in both the conditions the symptoms look almost alike. Not being able to properly gauge the condition can cause serious health issues as both the conditions demand different treatment, which is why consulting a doctor is a must in such cases.

Hemorrhoids can affect individuals of both the sex. One might experience swelling and pain around the anus area. Treatment measures are based on the symptoms experienced by the individual.

In summary, hematoma is more like a bruise caused due to the pool of blood collected outside the blood vessels due to the rupture of the vein in the anus. This condition can occur due to various reasons like lifting heavy weights. In some cases, even coughing can lead to this condition. The blood can be eradicated with the help of a syringe. However, if the condition is left untreated for a long period of time then it can result into blood clotting. If a clot exists, then one will have to undergo a surgery to treat the condition. In most cases, the incision caused due to this condition is stitched, and left to heal.

Extreme care is required while treating perianal hematoma surgically. It’s important to ensure that there are no bacteria’s present near the wound. If the bacteria enter the fecal matter then the condition would worsen and lead to different infections. More infection would imply that you may have to take part in another complicated surgery. Not to undermine the fact that you are also risking your health all the more.

As such, an individual may not be able to gauge whether he/she is suffering from perianal hematoma or external hemorrhoid. It’s important that one consults the doctor to know the exact cause and state of health. The doctor will be able to properly dialogize the disease after properly examining your condition.
